Is Smallville season ten confirmed? That is what online entertainment news magazine, “Cinema Spy” is reporting:
Please let it be so! That is definitely music to my ears, but I’m going to hold off for a bit on the celebrating until it’s officially announced by the network. Read the full article here. As always, a big thank you to “Shelby” for the heads up! |

“RieseTheSeries“, tweeted several behind-the-scene pictures of the cast. I added one of the images with Allison Mack below. See more here. Also, I read an interesting article regarding DC’s “Hawkman” on “Empire” this morning. It’s rumored that Warner Bros. has apparently set it’s sights on the winged superhero, and Smallville’s Hawkman, which will be portrayed by Michael Shanks, is briefly mentioned in the article as well. Check out the article here.

It just keeps getting more interesting! KryptonSite is reporting that WB announced earlier today that not only is Tom Welling attending Comic-Con this Sunday, but also that Tom is now a “co-executive producer” on the show! WOW! Also, on Ain’t It Cool News, they are reporting that Clark Kent will don the Superman costume next season on “Smallville”! A few Comic-Con attendees have supposedly previewed the costume Tom Welling has been fitted for! Hoax? Most likely, but I guess we’ll know for sure this Sunday. The source’s description:
Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place. Word is “Smallville” will conclude its 9-year run May 2010, so it makes sense that the CW would tack on a couple more production hours up there in Canada to make a Superman TV-movie that would run seven or so months after the series’ conclusion. Is it a hoax? I sure hope not – I’d love to see Tom Welling as Superman! We’ll find out next month if this rumor has any truth to it when the Smallville panel has their presentation at the Con on Sunday, July 26th. Read the full article here. |

The Sam-as-Zod notion was first hinted at in the episode “Bloodline,” where Faora commented that Davis looked “just like his father.” Unfortunately, it’s looking more and more like Sam-as-Zod is not going to come to pass. A few independent but unconfirmed sources are telling us it’s not going to happen, but of course, this hasn’t been confirmed or denied by the network or the series’ producers. Sin City director Robert Rodriguez last month dropped out of the Universal Studios project after spiralling costs would have forced him to shoot overseas, which he wasn’t prepared to do. Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that Robert Luketic could step into the director’s chair and is working with producer Dino De Laurentiis, who owns the rights, to develop the film with a different studio. “It will be a big intergalactic adventure with a sexy twist,” a source is quoted as saying. Luketic helmed 2001 hit comedy Legally Blonde, starring Reese Witherspoon; 2005′s Monster in Law starring Jennifer Lopez and original Barbarella actress Jane Fonda; and upcoming The Ugly Truth starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade – who penned new Bond flicks Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace – have scripted the remake. Erica Durance (Lois Lane in Smallville) was initially reported to be a front-runner for the title role, along with Sienna Miller, but then Rodriguez’s fiancee Rose McGowan was cast when he was attached as director. Earlier article: David Bentley from CoventryTelegraph.net is reporting that American wrestling star, Matt Morgan, “The Blueprint”, is set to be cast as Doomsday for season 9. He was originally trying to get cast for a different role on Smallville, but was told he was too tall. Here’s a transcript of what he said to The Pain Clinic, a pro-wrestling talk show: Asked about rumours of a role on Smallville, he said: “I originally was trying to get cast for a different role and they told me I was too tall. They called my agent back and said ‘We really like Matt, he’s a little bit too tall for what we were trying to cast him as.” “And then I guess they went to lunch and the director was talking to them and said “You’ve got to see this kid – he’s 7ft tall and 300lbs and young and it’s just such a shame he is too tall for the spot he was going for”. The director then said “Hold up, why don’t we sign this kid for the role of Doomsday?” “They had just previously cast the Doomsday character – signed, sealed, delivered, it was concrete. The director said ‘Let’s figure a way to recast Doomsday and maybe have this Matt Morgan kid play him’. In postproduction they are going to try to write around it, hopefully. “I keep my fingers crossed – entertainment is worse than wrestling when it comes to holding your breath for things to happen. So, barring anything crazy happening, it sounds like that’s what they want, they want me to play this role of Doomsday, because I don’t know if you guys follow the comic books but Doomsday is like three times the size of Superman.” Morgan is also in negotiations to play a villian in Iron Man 2, due out in theaters in May 2010. “Fans of The CW series Smallville take note: industry sources inform CinemaSpy that the show has been renewed for a tenth season, and that the official announcement is probable before the end of January — possibly to be made on the Vancouver sets — when Peter Roth, President of Warner Bros. Television will visit the Warner-produced shows Smallville, Supernatural…and Fringe.”

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting they have received word of a movie-length project (not a series) called “Metropolis”. The source claims that he/she has gotten a glimpse of some signage being prepared for next month’s “Smallville” presentation at Comic-Con.
Sam Witwer’s character of Davis Bloome was killed in the Season 8 finale, “Doomsday,” but a lot of fans had hoped that he would continue with the series as the character of Zod when the show returns for a ninth season. A leaked photo showing Sam with a goatee seemed to confirm these suspicions.
A REMAKE of the 1968 erotic sci-fi classic Barbarella could be set to blast off once again – with a new director.
