Lesley Goldberg with The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Smallville executive producers about the “great debate” on the Superman tights and cape in the show’s “Finale.”

I added a few excerpts from the article below:

“That is a great debate that’s going on,” Souders coyly told The Hollywood Reporter.

“What we wanted to do all along was show hints at where he was going because that is a whole different story that is yet to be told,” Peterson told THR. “It felt like it gave just enough without starting to tell a whole different story that is left for all the other media.’

Peterson, who penned Part 2 of the finale with Souders, noted that the series has always been about Clark becoming the hero from the famed mythos and that the adventures of Superman were stories that have been — and will continue to be told — via other avenues, including Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Man of Steel, set for next year. “[Showing Tom in the full suit] to me is just not super relevant and not what we were trying to do,” he said.

The director for the upcoming Superman reboot, Zack Snyder, spoke with “Fox All Access” and expressed that he is thankful “Smallville” has kept the Superman icon alive.

“I’ll say one thing. I’ll say, thank God for Smallville. Smallville by itself, quietly has kept Superman in consciousness in a way that with out it my kids really would be like, ‘Who the hell is Superman? I don’t even know who the guy is!’ I think that in that way Smallville has done an amazing job of just keeping that icon alive and breathing. He is on life support, but he is there. And I thank them for that.”

Three time Oscar nominee, and Smallville alum Amy Adams has landed the role of journalist, Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot.

The 36-year old actress, who played over-weight teenager Jodi Melville in the Smallville episode 1.07 “Craving,” as well as numerous movies, joins Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman),  Diane Lane (Clark’s adoptive mother, Martha Kent), and Kevin Costner (Clark’s adoptive father, Jonathan Kent) on the production.

Snyder told the “LA Times Hero Complex” the following:

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

Green Lantern co-writer, Marc Guggenheim tells MTV he would like Tom Welling to reprise his portrayal of Clark Kent for the upcoming ‘Green Lantern” movie:

“Without trying very hard, you could probably find the leaked script on the internet,” he laughed. “[The Superman cameo] is in the leaked script. It survived several drafts. Ultimately, it was cut for budgetary reasons. We took it out in one of our later drafts. After my interview with you, of course.”

“The Clark Kent cameo is still near and dear to my heart. I really wanted it to be in the movie,” he added, only to joke, “You never know — it can still happen. If Tom Welling has a free hour or two, you never know.”

Tom Welling talks Smallville’s final season with the “Los Angeles Times”! Read a snippet of Tom’s interview below:

Clark Kent is growing into the super man we all knew he could be as “Smallville” begins it’s 10th and final season on Friday. Jevon Phillips writes about the show and the actor who has portrayed Clark Kent longer than anyone else, Tom Welling.

Tom Welling’s first memory on the set of “Smallville” nine years ago was a chance meeting with a young production assistant named Chris Petry. The actor waved at Petry, who returned the greeting. Almost a decade later, Petry is all grown up and now serves as one of the show’s producers and occasionally directs. As for Welling, well, he is still almost Superman.

“The two of us were just sitting around the other day and going ‘Eh, not too bad. Not too bad for nine years. [We've] done all right,” said Welling, who is also an executive producer on the show and on the new CW program “Hellcats.”

Read Tom’s full interview at the “LA Times” here.

Smallville season ten premieres this Friday night (Sept. 24) at 8/7c on the CW.

I discovered a very talented artist while visiting the exhibits at Comic-Con today! What originally caught my eye was a large banner of Christopher Reeve as Superman and Tom Welling as Clark Kent right below Reeve’s image displayed at the artist’s exhibit booth. After inquiring about the banner, I was directed at a eye-popping beautiful print of all the actors that have portrayed Superman through the years, which includes Tom Welling, so of course I immediately purchased it!

Check it out below, and be sure to visit the artist, “Jason Palmer” at his website here.

According to an article in “The Associated Press”, a copy of Action Comics No. 1, which features the first appearance of Superman, sold today for $1.5 million during an auction on the website ComicConnect.com.

The book, which is widely considered the Holy Grail of comic books, originally sold for 10 cents when it hit newsstands back in 1938. There are about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 believed to be in existence, and only a handful in good condition.
