Tess Mercer is the Managing CEO of LuthorCorp., and the caretaker of the Luthor Estate.  She was hand picked to take over by Lex after he went missing and presumed dead in the Arctic.

Tess was born in Louisiana. She taught her self to read in a swamp house. She got into Harvard at fifteen. She was a marine biologist until she met Lex.

While gathering viruses for LuthorCorp, Lex saved Tess from an explosion.  However, it was at that time, Lex had implanted a nano-transmitter in her optic nerve in order to be “Lex’s eyes and ears”.
