Deleted “Idol” Scene
Posted by Nessa • 2 Comments »

Idol Deleted Scene-sI’m sure some of you are wondering what happened to a Wonder Twins scene that was depicted in recent Smallville promo images for “Idol”.

KryptonSite revealed a tid-bit regarding the deleted scene earlier today:

Here’s what you missed… As originally scripted, District Attorney, Sacks demanded that the Blur comes out of hiding while Lois is on the podium. Suddenly, a male voice is heard saying “I’m the Blur.” It’s Zan, wearing a shirt with the House of El crest on it.

Then Jayna walks up and says she, too, is the Blur. Then citizens one by one all tell Sacks that they are the Blur.

Hopefully we’ll see the deleted scene when the season nine DVD comes out next year.

Every week I have a new favorite Smallville episode – it just gets more awesome as the season progresses. I really enjoyed “Idol” this past Friday – I hope we see more of the Wonder Twins (Allison Scagliotti and David Gallagher) in future episodes. Did not expect the Clois treat in the beginning of the episode – loved that scene!

I just added the Idol screencaps to the gallery – see it HERE. Enjoy!

Smallville Writer Bryan Q. Miller Talks Zatanna
Posted by Nessa • No Comments »

Zatanna - HexSmallville writer Bryan Q. Miller (“Committed” 8.05, “Bulletproof” 8.12, “Hex” 8.17, “Echo” 9.04 & new writer of DC’s Batgirl series) spoke with “MTV News” about his take on how to integrate magically-gifted characters into a live-action comic book world. Here’s a snippet of the interview below:

“Magic is always hard on our show,” Miller said. “On the page, not just from a budget standpoint like on TV, you can do anything with magic. When you have real people walking around on TV—fictional characters—you have to somehow ground what’s happening. Magic can just be limitless, and if it’s limitless, where does the conflict come from? How do you stop Zatanna when something goes wrong?”

“When we saw [Zatanna] in ‘Hex,’ she was just getting a handle on her magic — that was kind of our approach to [solving] that,” the writer added. “She wasn’t totally, totally awesome [at magic] yet, which made it a lot easier to wrangle what she could and couldn’t do. It’s a matter of skewing it and handicapping it a little bit so that you can wrap a story around it.”

In terms of “Smallville,” then, both grounded and fantasy-filled comic characters can coexist in a live-action platform. But perhaps the comparison isn’t fair, since “Smallville” focuses on the eventual Superman, who is almost as far from a reality-based character as it gets.

Smallville Executive Producer Brian Peterson Talks Chloe!
Posted by Nessa • No Comments »

ChloeTV Guide chatted with Smallville executive producer, Brian Peterson about the Wonder Twins, Zatanna & Chloe!

Read a snippet below:

First off, I cannot believe you have the Wonder Twins this week!
Brian Peterson:
The Wonder Twins are really fantastic! They are so fun, the way we have them is really fun, because we don’t overburden the whole show with them. They’re just perfect in it.

And last week, news broke that you have Serinda Swan coming back as Zatanna…
Brian Peterson:
Yes, we are really excited about that. She’s coming back in an episode called “Warrior,” about Warrior Angel and that is a very Chloe-centric episode. It’s a great light spot in a kind of very heavy [storyline] run for us. It’s going to happen in the Winter.

Speaking of Chloe…
Brian Peterson:
Chloe has been and always will be the lynchpin in Clark’s arc, I would say. What we’ve talked about in the writer’s room, is that for anyone who has been in the highs and lows of love over the course of their lives, there are a lot of different kinds of love. And we really see Chloe as the Mary Magdalene to Clark’s Christ. She may not have romance now, she may not have romance in the future, but how she loves him and the way she helps him grow as a character is paramount to him becoming Superman. And that is never going to change.
