5.01 Arrival
Jor-El: “Kal-El, you have traveled far. One journey has ended. A new journey is about to begin. Welcome home my son.”
Jor-El: “Kal-El, you must continue your education. You cannot stop.”
Clark Kent: “She’s my friend! She needs help!”
Jor-El: “Your destiny is far greater than saving one human life.”
Clark Kent: “No, I won’t let her die!”
Jor-El: “Each time you let human learned emotions guide you, you put the fate of the entire planet is at risk. That is your weakness, Kal-El.”
Clark Kent: “Please, I’m begging you.”
Jor-El: “Very well…under one condition. You must return to me before the yellow sun sets.”
Clark Kent: “I’ll be back. I promise.”
Jor-El: “Do not fail me Kal-El. Or the consequences will be grave.”
Clark Kent: “You have my word.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Hey. I think it’s time you switch into Super-Clark mode now.”
Clark Kent: “Super-Clark?”
Chloe Sullivan: “I know you run faster than a speeding bullet Clark…take me along for the ride.”
___
Chloe Sullivan: “I wonder who’s more freaked out right now. Me, knowing that I’m in a hospital where they get there medicine via dog-sled. Or you, finally finding out I know your secret.”
Clark Kent: “How long have you known?”
Chloe Sullivan: “I guess I always had my suspicions. The quick exits, the miraculous recoveries, the lame excuses. But I think when I saw you catch a car like it was a beach ball…that kinda confirmed everything.”
Clark Kent: “Why didn’t you say anything?”
Chloe Sullivan: “I figured if you wanted to tell me you were part of the super-powered persuation, you would when you were ready. On your terms, not on mine.”
Clark Kent: “You’re a good friend Chloe.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Obviously not good enough.”
Clark Kent: “There was so many times I wanted to tell you.”
___
Clark Kent: “The meteor rocks…they didn’t make me who I am.”
Chloe Sullivan: “So your saying you were born this way?”
Clark Kent: “I wasn’t born anywhere near Smallville. In fact, I wasn’t born anywhere near this galaxy.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Okay… okay… so that would make you an…”
Clark Kent: “Yeah.”
Chloe Sullivan: “But you… you look so…”
Clark Kent: “Human? I’m still the same person.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Clark… I think you’re so amazing. You save people’s lives and take zero credit for it. To me, you’re more than just a hero. You’re a super-hero.”
Clark Kent: “Chloe…”
Chloe Sullivan: “I’m serious, Clark. If more humans were like you, the world would be a better place.”
___
Clark Kent: “How’d you get that frog in your throat?”
Lois Lane: “That’s what happens when you get a neck massage from Barbie the Barbarian. Doctor says I shouldn’t talk too much.”
Clark Kent: “Oh, gee. That’s too bad.”
Lois Lane: “Don’t get your hopes up, Smallville. It’s not permanent.”
___
Martha Kent: “You can get hurt now; you’re vulnerable.”
Clark Kent: “Isn’t that what it means to be human?”
___
Clark Kent: “No more secrets. No more lies.”
Lana Lang: “Clark I want to ask you something. Do you believe in life on other planets?”
Clark Kent: “Actually…I do.”
5.02 Mortal
Chloe Sullivan: “Alright Clark. As long as you’re happy with who you are.”
Lex Luthor: “Happiness is such an elusive creature, isn’t it? We all wish for it, but very few ever really find it.
Chloe Sullivan: “It Doesn’t make the search any less important.”
Lex Luthor: “Or the destination… Do you remember the last time we stood here together? I ended up unconscious on the ground and somehow you landed in the artic.”
Chloe Sullivan: “I told you, I don’t remember what happened.”
Lex Luthor: “Then why have you been avoiding me, Chloe? It’s been weeks since I brought you back from that hospital in the Yukon where I found you.”
Chloe Sullivan: “I’ve been busy, Lex.”
Lex Luthor: “Right, I heard being a third wheel is very time consuming.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Clark and Lana are finally together. They’re happy. That’s all that should matter to a real friend.”
Lex Luthor: “I think you know more than you’re telling me about what happened in this cave, about Clark’s involvement. I know you think you’re being a good friend, but you’re playing a very dangerous game.
Chloe Sullivan: “Kinda like covering up the spaceship Lana said crashed during the meteor shower.”
Lex Luthor: “Lana was hysterical. She didn’t see what she thought she did.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Well, maybe you didn’t either, Lex. Stop asking me questions or I will start asking my own.”
___
Clark Kent: “Are you sure this is going to work?”
Chloe Sullivan: “You got a better plan?”
Clark Kent: “Well, normally I’d just rip open the door, and super-speed past the survellaince cameras and somehow open the vault or whatever with my heat vision.”
Chloe Sullivan: “So what you’re saying is now that your human you have absolutely no useful skills?”
Clark Kent: “Not so much.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Great. I finally landed my own superhero and this is what I get.”
Clark Kent: “Chloe, we don’t need super powers for this. You get the door open and then access the servellaince cameras and then loop the same empty hallway over and over and I…”
Chloe Sullivan: “That kind of electronic hocus-pocus is going to take hours to rig up. Sometimes it’s just easier if you just…turn off the power.” [door opens]
___
Clark Kent: “I’m going in circles.”
Chloe Sullivan: “No, your not. You just feel that way because your in a confined space with no visual markers.”
Clark Kent: “It’s impossible, it’s a million degrees in here.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Gosh Clark, I didn’t realize super-whining was one of your powers.”
Clark Kent: “Pete was a lot better with these pep-talks in these situations.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Pete?! You told Pete your secret?”
Clark Kent: “I kind of had to, he saw my ship.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Whaa! Pete got to see your spaceship?”
___
Chloe Sullivan: “Breaking news: Clark Kent saves the day.”
Clark Kent: “Thanks to you.”
Chloe Sullivan: “Yeah, well, I did just what I usually do. You were the one who took down three meteor freaks without any… special advantages. Then again, once a hero, always a hero.”
___
Clark Kent: “Destiny’s just another word for not having a choice.”
5.03 Hidden
Jor-El [as Lionel Luthor]: “Your mortal journey is over, yes, but your eminent destiny is too important to sacrifice. You will return with all your natural gifts. Unfortunately, this rectification does not come without a price. The life of someone close to you will be exchanged for yours.”
Clark Kent: “No. No, I would never ask for that.”
Jor-El [as Lionel Luthor]: “You already did. When you decided to relinquish your powers and disobey me. It was your choice.”
Clark Kent: “Then just don’t bring me back!”
Jor-El [as Lionel Luthor]: “It’s too late. For everything in nature, there is a balance. The life force that has been returned to you will soon be taken from… from someone you love. You’re about to face your darkest hour, my son. But, remember: The lessons that we learn from pain are the ones that make us the strongest.”
___
Jonathan Kent: “Son, they told us you were dead.”
Clark Kent: “I was.”
Jonathan Kent: “Jor-El…”
Clark Kent: “Yeah.”
Martha Kent: “He returned your powers, didn’t he?”
Clark Kent: “I’m not human anymore. It’s the only way I could come back.”
Jonathan Kent: “We heard about a missile malfunction. You stopped it, didn’t you? It’s not easy to sacrifice the things you want the most to save other people. We’re so proud of you, Clark.
Clark Kent: “The sacrifice would’ve been not coming back at all.”
___
Clark Kent: I can’t take that risk. I’ve risked too much already and now someone else is going to have to pay for it.
Chloe Sullivan: Clark, is everything okay? What’s going on?
Clark Kent: I never should have given up my powers. Why didn’t I listen to him? Chloe, I think I’ve made a terrible mistake
