I’m glad you made the team, Clark, but why be a conformist? At least with the whole farm boy plaid thing, as lame as it is, it completely belongs to you. — Lois to Clark, 4.04 Devoted

Warner Home Video has released images of the season nine DVD rear box art, as well as the DVD disc artwork. The Smallville Complete Ninth Season DVD & Blu-ray is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, September 7th. (See the front box art here.)
Me too…pre-ordered my set as soon as it became available!
Oh, I just know ED for 22 ep’s will be brought up during the panel discussion, but the question is…will she get the 22! If not, I bet she’ll get close to it.
I’m not really liking this back cover very much. There are certainly some better pictures they could have chosen, especially for “Absolute Justice.” The picture they have from that episode is so boring.
About the written summary… REALLY don’t like it. They begin with a sentence that ends in a preposition and it just sounds… dumb. For some reason it makes me think of *EVIL* Moody from the 4th Harry Potter movie, where he says, “Great creatures, dragons, aren’t they?” in some imitation of Hagrid’s voice. … Anyway, I also really don’t like how they use Clark’s “I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL” line. I don’t understand at all why *this* is the type of character people want Clark to be. I don’t get why everyone thinks he was so great this year. Clark was distant, in the background a lot, moody (yes, more than usual), a jerk to his supposed friends throughout most of the season (yeah, they were too, but still), ONLY happy around Lois (I love them together, but he’s only happy around one person? Not good, in my book), accusative (not that he hasn’t always been like that), superiority complex (not that he hasn’t been like that for years), and really quite violent (especially to Tess). So, really? This is the type of character that we’ve been waiting for him to become? Um… yay?
Anyway, the discs are nice. Glad they chose a picture where Allison/Chloe is smiling. And… is that ANOTHER new picture of Tom?! I haven’t been able to figure out if these new ones we have gotten are manipulations, or not. His hair is certainly S9 hair in all of them, so… I’m not sure. Either way, the disc image for Clark/Tom is a good one.
But one BAD thing on the discs… on disc 6 it says episodes 19-21. … GAH! That means they didn’t split up “Absolute Justice.” Part of me is fine with that, but another part of me isn’t. It messes up the whole “one word title” thing they’ve had going all these years and the original titles were really cool. I guess they didn’t want to confuse anyone who hadn’t known about the original titles. Oh well. I’ll get over it.
Even with all my complaints about this and S9 in general, I’m still really excited for this set to be released. I really want to watch “Pandora” without the whole thing of the TV signal not being able to handle all the red (that makes sense, really). I also still REALLY love the front cover. Best front cover ever, I say.
Wow, I didn’t realize the 21-eps until you mentioned it. Well that just screws up the numbering, lol.
Yeah, I totally agree about the Absolute Justice image that was used on the DVD back cover. I wonder why they used that one of all the great images to use from that episode. Not too crazy myself with the “I will destroy you all” line used in the summary.
Love the disc images except ED’s – wish they used a different image of her. But like you…I LOVE THE FRONT COVER TOO! I have to say that I was surprised when I first saw it though. I guess I wasn’t expecting something so beautiful with all the recycled images they’ve been using lately.
Can’t wait to get the DVD, although I wish Tom Welling was commentating one of the episodes. Hopefully we’ll get to see it on the S10 DVD since it will be the show’s last.
Nice to hear from you again on here Ian! Missed you!
Well, Smallville is about Clark Kent’s younger years before he became Superman…and we know that by the end of season ten Clark will be Superman.
Now I would LOVE to see a spin-off…like the rumored “Metropolis”, and have it focus on Clark and Lois at the Daily Planet (Tom Welling and Erica Durance). Hopefully we won’t have to completely say good-bye!
