Press release from The CW:

The CW Network has announced that its hit series SMALLVILLE will return in the fall of 2010 for a momentous tenth season.

SMALLVILLE, a modern retelling of the Superman legend, stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent. The series moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television’s #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, SMALLVILLE has dramatically improved The CW’s ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00p.m.time period by 67% among adults 18-34 (1.5/6), 200% in men 18-34 (1.8/7), 75% in adults 18-49 (1.4/5), 183% in men 18-49 (1.7/6) and 74% in total viewers (3.12million).

SMALLVILLE joins the five previously announced series – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, GOSSIP GIRL, 90210, SUPERNATURAL, and AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL – which will all return for another season on The CW.

SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Gary

Any word on if it is going to be the last season or not.

Nessa

Hey Gary,

No, still no word. This is what Kristin with E! Online just put up:

Insiders confirm that the 10th season will be a full 22-episode order; no word yet on if next year will be designed as a “wrap-up season” or if the powers that be are planning to wait and see about the ratings before making any story decisions.

As soon as I hear something, I’ll definitely post it!

I just can’t believe that Tess and Oliver will be back on season 10. C’mon Martian Manhunter deserves it same for Hawkman.

I just want Perry and Lex Luthor as regulars in place of Allison Mack and Callum Blue.

It’s sad to say it but Smallville has to end at season 10.

Nessa

Hey Elodie,

I’m speechless, LOL. Besides Tom Welling, I can’t imagine Smallville without Allison Mack. Justin Hartley is also a personal favorite, and Cassidy Freeman’s portrayal of Tess has really grown on me this season.

I really hope Michael Rosenbaum comes back – that would be so amazing, and Perry White…that would be a pleasant surprise. Even if he’s just a recurring character – that would be very cool. Phil Morris…I love Martian Manhunter, and I really enjoy his relationship with Clark. If he’s not a regular, I sure hope they bring him in for more episodes next season. We didn’t get to see him too much this season, and it really is a shame.

Like I commented on another post, I hope we get to see Laura Vandervoort, Kristin Kreuk and James Marsters again next season. If season ten is the final season, we have to see them again before it all ends!
